Those of you who attended Denvention 3 may recall that every member was issued with a water bottle and was warned, "You're at altitude, and you need to drink extra water." Well, Reno isn't much lower than Denver — 4500 feet rather than 5280 — and it may well be drier, although I don't have objective data on that. Those of you who live in the lowlands (most of us, including me) should remember to drink extra water and take into account the somewhat thinner air. It's been getting to me yesterday and today, although I admit that much of that could also be from spending a few hours in the casino, where there's cigarette smoke as well. But when I come back here in August, I'm bringing my D3 water bottle.

I'm back home again, after driving first from Reno to Yuba City and spending an hour or so visiting my mother. The route from Reno takes us down Highway 20, where we stopped at the Alpha-Omega rest area/scenic overlook and I took some pictures.

Wish I'd had the wide-angle lens for this one )

After visiting my mother, Lisa and I moved her stuff back into her pickup truck and she and I convoyed back into Yuba City, where I paid to refuel her pickup and we said our goodbyes. At the CA-20/99 intersection, I waved goodbye as she headed north and I headed south.

As I left Yuba City, the Giants baseball game was just started. I had the game as company for the trip. The Giants pulled off yet another bottom-of-the-ninth "walk-off" win just as I arrived in Fremont on Niles Canyon Road.

I enjoyed my trip, and I'll be posting a back-dated entry soon about the Railroad Museum trip (or you can look at all the photos now if you're interested), but for now, I need some rest. I have to work tomorrow, after all.
