Amazon and Fernley
Oct. 21st, 2014 07:05 pmAfter last night's visit to Lowe's — where we have been going a lot lately — I was able to get a little better picture of the Amazon.com fulfillment center employee entrance as we left. Better get it now because it won't be there much longer.
( Amazon Snapshot )
I discovered in the local paper that Amazon is moving this center to Reno. I don't know if that means Reno itself or Sparks or some other part of Washoe County, but no matter what, I'm really surprised that they're doing it, given that it's almost certainly going to be more expensive in Reno, unless Amazon was able to swing some sort of sweetheart deal with the government there. Of course, this is going to be a hardship for Fernley, and the departure of Amazon has become an issue in the local race for mayor.
