It must have been a decade ago there was a news story about a girl who got stuck in a storm drain. She had her mobile phone, but she didn't use it to call emergency services, or her parents, or what have you. Instead she updated her Facebook status to something like "OMG stuck in sewer eeewww". Her friends saw it, & one of them apparently had the sense to inform an adult.
