End of the Run

It would have been a storybook ending, at least of a chapter, if the San Francisco Giants had been able to defeat the LA Dodgers last night to win their National League division series and move on, but the Giants' bats just weren't hot enough, and the Dodgers won the game 2-1 and the series 3-2.

I now find myself in the position of wanting all four of the remaining teams in the playoffs to lose. Oh well, that's the way of a fan sometimes.

I've been rooting for the underdog in every single series, and I expect to continue doing so, because the fivethirtyeight ELO rating coming into the playoffs was the exact opposite of my preference of teams to win the World Series. I'm sad that the Giants lost, though to be perfectly honest much of the reason why is that I thought they would be easier opposition for the Red Sox (or second choice White Sox) should either of those teams make it to the WS.
