Errand Day

I had to be up at 3:30 AM on Thursday for Day Jobbe reasons to help someone in our European office, but that did mean that I was able to clock out at 12:30 PM and get on the road just after 1 PM. Lisa and I had a number of things to get done in Reno that had to be done during normal working hours, rather than overnight as we do our large-scale grocery shopping. We combined as many things as possible, taking advantage of the fact that four of the stops were within walking distance of each other (two on each side of the street).

• Recycling at the WM drop-off on Commercial Row


• Check out a new dentist for Lisa (the last one didn't work out) and make an initial appointment for her. to my surprise, they can see her in only a few weeks, unlike the past one where we had to wait for months


• Home Depot: What we came to buy they didn't have, but Lisa did find some US-made light switches she needs for a project.


• Work World: I've lost weight and need new slacks. For some reason, size 42/32 Carhartt jeans are in short supply. They didn't have any and after calling around to other stores, found exactly one more pair, which they'll have sent to them, after which they'll call me.


• Kenny G Jewelers: replace the battery in Lisa's high-end watch.


• AAA: Paper maps for the Europe trip. (Lisa doesn't have a smartphone, and paper maps don't need batteries.)


• Raley's South Reno: A few things that are difficult to get at other area grocery stores.

We got home about five hours after we left, having been generally successful with most of our errands. But wow, I was worn out after the early start today. Not helping was that it was windy, and the Rolling Stone, which doesn't handle that well at the best of times, is worse when the winds come gusting through the Truckee River canyon. So I'm still a bit worn out today. Nothing some extra sleep won't fix, I reckon.
