Renown Health called Lisa and me this afternoon with the results of the MRI. Unsurprisingly, the diagnosis is a partially torn rotator cuff. They will be referring Lisa to physical therapy, and we should know more tomorrow. This could take a long time (months, likely) to recover. On the good side, it does not look sufficiently bad to require surgery.

Oh, that's a real shame. Best of luck for Lisa and I hope it heals quickly.

My sympathies. A few years ago I had a dislocated shoulder due to a bicycle accident. Many months of physical therapy recovered almost all of the movement, but I've never truly regained the full strength I think I had in the shoulder. I hope Lisa recovers well and as quickly as she can. The main thing in the short term is to avoid over-stressing the shoulder and allowing it to heal, while not losing all the muscle tone in the rest of the cuff. That's the bit that's really tricky following a dislocation.

Ouch - rotator cuff tears are not fun and do take a long time to heal. And definitely do all the physical therapy - I didn't when I was young and had torn both sides after a motorbike accident, and I'm paying the price now in reduced mobility and that I can't now work above my head for extended periods.
