Cheryl comments on the cameo appearance of the WSFS Armadillo in Charlie Stross' Halting State.

BBC News use it pretty much all the time, now

When the BBC News goes to one of their regional news studios for an interview, they usually have a cityscape shot of some relevance back-projected behind the interviewee. (So the Westminster studio always has a shot of Big Ben, BBC Oxford has a sepia "dreaming towers" shot, etc.) And I've noticed the past few times they've gone to the BBC Glasgow studio, the WSFS Armadillo has been the background shot. Obviously it's come to iconically represent Glasgow, for both the general public
*and* Worldcon attendees.

The BBC studios are directly over the river from the WSFS Armadillo, that's why.
