Today I was able to get out for a nice 30 minute walk in the morning before starting Day Jobbe work around Noon.

Meanwhile, Lisa had to bail out of the AirBnB in Munich. The description as we read it looked like it was a small studio apartment with an en suite toilet, but it turned out to be a bedroom in someone's house. That was not what we signed up for. For the moment, we've managed to move Lisa to a Holiday Inn near where her friend Chris is staying. That's only a short-term fix and we hunt around for a new base of operations. I was able to cancel part of the original AirBnB reservation, although we're out the cost of the first 30 days. Also, any alternative accommodation will be more expensive. Annoyingly in the short term, there is no way for Lisa to make calls from the hotel to call me, even with her telephone credit card, because the hotel's telephone system only allows you to call their front desk. And while the hotel room has Ethernet ports, they are not hot. Lisa's computer does not have have Wi-Fi, nor does she want it, and her internet telephone requires a wired connection. The hotel says they don't know about wired connections and only do Wi-Fi. Chris and I can call her because we know the hotel's phone number and her room number, but she can't call us.

We've had a spell of spring weather — enough to where Lisa and I have been trying to get out and do some walking. It's only been walking around our block, albeit usually several times, but it's better than staying inside all the time.

However, the current weather forecast suggests we may get snow again over the weekend, so perhaps we'll have to hunker down some more.

Today's high was a whopping 8°C, so Lisa and I got out for a couple of walks. Not really long ones, but much better than being cooped up in the house.

With a new storm coming on Sunday and up to 5 cm snow forecast even for Fernley, we're making plans for a quick trip on Saturday taking us somewhere we haven't been for quite a while: California, and not just the little sliver of it at Gold Ranch and the Lottery ticket sales kiosk. But we have to be back more or less before dark on Saturday, so we're going to have to set out well before sunrise tomorrow morning — even earlier than I usually get up for Day Jobbe. That means an early night tonight.

Today is forecast to be the last day of clear weather for a while. We've been taking advantage of the the last few days by going out walking around town a fair bit. But I got caught out a bit this evening, as I didn't realize how long we were going to be out when we started, and thus by the time we were heading home, it was after dark. That by itself wasn't a problem, but both Lisa and I were wearing black. When we're going to be out after dark, I try to wear my yellow coat and/or an orange reflective safety vest. When crossing Main Street at the traffic light, as I feared, traffic turning right from US-95 onto Main would have run us down if we hadn't been ready for them. The first car charged right through. The second one, thankfully, actually stopped and let us go. I'm sure the driver of the first car was astonished at the concept of someone walking at all. But no matter, we got home in one piece and that's what matters.

I decided to get ambitious on Sunday and walked roughly 10 km through the various trails of Shoreline Park in Mountain View.

I'm sure the walking was good for me, but my legs are complaining about it today.
